Esty Environmental Partners is a management consultancy founded on twenty years of Yale Professor Dan Esty’s work as one of the world’s leading corporate environmental strategy thinkers and advisors. Esty Environmental Partners seeks to help clients develop and implement environmental strategies that provide business advantage. Dan’s most recent book, Green to Gold, which presents the Esty Environmental Partners frameworks and best practices, has been hailed as a breakthrough in corporate environmental strategy and as a “must read for the 21st century CEO." The book provides cutting edge guidance for executives on how to face environmental challenges and seize environmental leadership. Avoiding the excessively rosy discussion of many corporate environmental commentators, Esty and his team show that like any other business initiative, environmental projects require a clear and well-formed strategy and disciplined execution. Their work provides critical insight into why some environmental initiatives fail while others greatly exceed expectations. The principles of Esty Environmental Partners are based on Dan’s unique experience and his perspective that environmental challenges create a continually evolving opportunity for companies to innovate and lead. Dan has advised and continues to advise global corporations, including Coca-Cola, Unilever, Honeywell, Shell, Limited Brands, Northeast Utilities, and Kerr-McKee. His academic work, as Director of both the Center for Environment and Business at Yale and the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy, has included publications in the Harvard Business Review and the Environmental Business Journal. His most recent research project, the results of which are published in the book Green To Gold, includes insights gained from interviews with hundreds of managers at corporations recognized for their environmental leadership. As a senior official with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the 1990s, Dan helped craft a number of national environmental regulations and international agreements, and has testified before Congress numerous times. To help companies understand how to develop and implement environmental strategies that provide business advantage, Esty and George Favaloro (former McKinsey consultant and corporate executive) formed Esty Environmental Partners in the summer of 2006. Using Esty's work as the basis to explain the causal factors behind successful and failed environmental strategies, Esty Environmental Partners was created to apply a set of insights, tools, and frameworks to real practice, helping companies achieve positive results from their environmental initiatives.
